Hi! I'm Heather. Thanks for visiting my site.
I hope you find a lot of useful information. If you
have suggestions of things you would like to see, comments,
questions, or just want to talk about tatting, e-mail me at
tattingconnection@yahoo.com.
I'm proud to be an Arizona native as you can see by the Arizona
flag I designed and tatted. I'm also proud to be an
American! The American flag pattern displayed at the upper
left of every page was the largest project I had attempted at
the time.
I've been tatting since 1986. People always ask if a
family member taught me to tat, but my grandmother and I
actually learned to tat at the same time! Grandma called
me up one day and asked if I wanted to learn to tat and I said
"What's tatting?" I joined the class with her and the rest
is history!
I've entered many tatted items in the Arizona State Fair over
the years and won over 50 ribbons. I've not been able to
enter items lately as I'm just too busy getting ready for craft
shows at that time of year. If you are in the Phoenix area
and would like to be added to an e-mail list to be notified of
the holiday shows I will be in, just e-mail me with "mailing
list" in the reference.
In 1999 I also started making jewelry. I love working with
silver wire and Swarovski crystal. My desire with my
jewelry design is to make pieces unique enough to draw comments
but simple enough to wear every day to work. I want people
to be able to wear my jewelry with any outfit to any function
without feeling over or under dressed. Costume jewelry is
nice, but eventually the finish wears off or it doesn't hold up
to constant wear. I want my jewelry to be better than
costume, but not so expensive that most people can't afford it.
Ultimately, I'll be combining my love of silver with my love of
tatting to make unique tatted wire items. I can tell you
already I have to wear protection on my fingers to keep the wire
from cutting my fingers as I tat!
On my other links page you'll find sites that reflect some of my
other loves - horses, writing, jewelry, etc. In 2005 I
realized a life-long dream and adopted my first horse.
He's been quite a challenge but I wouldn't give him up for the
world! We've both learned so much in these past couple of
years and he's given me quite a lot of things to write about!
We have taken a few ribbons in natural horsemanship classes at
horse shows and also two ribbons in our first dressage schooling
show. We have also passed our Level 1 Parelli natural
horsemanship test!
I was a member of the Tempe Christian Writer's Group for several
years and enjoy writing short fiction and devotionals. I
haven't really tried to get published yet but I do have some
projects that I hope to get in shape to submit in the next year
or two!
Thanks again for coming to my site and keep watching for
updates! |
